Dr. Kovalenko is the author of more than 150 works on the problems of the history and evolution of artistic life, the theory and practice of cultural policy, and the preservation of cultural heritage, which were published in Russia, Azerbaijan, France, Italy, Switzerland and the USA. He is the head and executor of research within the framework of the state assignment and state order of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. He heads the Program Committee of the International Research Forum “Cultural Heritage of the North Caucasus as a Resource of Interethnic Concord”. Dr. Kovalenko participated in the preparation of the State Report on the State of Culture in the Russian Federation in 2014 and 2015, in the conducting of a departmental survey of the quality of provided public services, in the development of the Concept of Event Tourism Development in the Republic of Adygea, the Concept of the Federal Register of Experts in Interethnic and Interfaith Interaction, in the implementation of research and organizational projects under the Federal Target Program “Culture of Russia (2012–2018)”, in the implementation of socially important projects under grants from the President of the Russian Federation. He is the author of educational public lectures on the history of world art culture and theater history. Currently, Dr. Kovalenko is a member of the editorial boards of academic publications “Cultural Heritage of the North Caucasus as a Resource of Interethnic Concord”, “Polonia. Research on Poland and the Poles”, a member of the Regional Research and Methodological Council for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage under the Office for State Protection of the Cultural Heritage of Krasnodar Krai, an expert at the Future Technologies International Center for Pedagogical Innovation. Dr. Kovalenko is an independent expert reviewer in a number of Russian peer-reviewed academic publications, including those indexed in global citation databases.
